snow- and ice-tyres
After seeing the picture on the left -that is displaying
Daniel Rosen-
in a juggling book, I (Leo)
was inspired to do the same. In the winter of '97/'98 I've met
Cirque du Soleil
choreographer Francois LeRoux who was making another show for
Holiday on Ice,
while his previous show was touring trough Europe.
I've asked if I could have a try on their ice, and
Semcycle made me a special tire.
At my first atempt I met a skater-pair, and so we just started playing.
Both me and the skater had to get used to forces and directions.A couple of years later Semcycle found factory made ice-tires: the Ice-Spiker made by Schwalbe (see below). So each year I noticed Holiday on Ice in town, I always wanted to try that tire, but never took time to go do it. In september 2006 Jason Graetz (by then a skater at Disney on Ice) found my clips which he wanted to add to his website icetricks.com. Not much later he started at the newest show of Holiday on Ice. The rehursals were done in a abandoned factory in the same street as Semcycle, and so I was able to do more unicycling on ice. Although I only had a 26" unicycle, I even was able to do side-ride, dragseat, power-gliding and more! And this time with 2 enthousiast skaters around me. Have a look at the results at the bottom of this page!
I have no idea who this is, or where this picture was token (or by who). But have a look: a 4 wheeler (means oppossit driving) WITH skates. Imagen the the resistance of 4 tyres, and the grip of a wet blade pedals! |
