Smile for Google - Part 2
unicycle on Google Street ViewRemember my post where I anounced to be(come) the 1st unicyclist on Google StreetView...?

Well, here it is! (yay!)

It was soo funny: I spotted the car right after I looked up from my phone's screen, while using the Google maps to navigate to my destignation!

The stitching of the pictures however is a bit odd. Cause if you use the arrow (to browse), you'll see it was token from two sessions. So I suddenly dissapear, and come back.

proffersor Sharp is sharp
This article of the BBC is spreading some nonsense on behalf of a Surrey based professor named Sharp. A quote like "Inevitably when you start to ride a unicycle you're going to fall off quite a lot". make me wonder why that is inevitable; I've teached people to unicycle more than once without falling, and twice even without a UPD!!! Further 72 is not too late to start.

However.., he comes up with a clever and very interresting improvement for an autonomous unicycle, using a spinal, like humans use their body mass to relocate their mass.
Yes, I'm looking forward to see that done in bidirectional servo's; pushing/pulling rubber-band 'muscles' around 360 degree hinge. Although real muscles work the opposit, it could simulate the human back.

yucycle
A tricycle unicycle is a somewhat contradictional description for yucycle.

3 legs
Tweet: I just saw a man on a unicycle walking a 3 legged dog!.
Well.. than you could have shouted a remark to them. Like "Hey,.. you're missing a ...leg!".
Although in fact you're the one missing something; it seems they turned out to do fine without.

point of view
This is a interresting point of view on learning how to ride a unicycle. Considering unicycling is -like walking and skating- a constant fall, it's totally truth.

attention
Yes, some folks like to believe you use the unicycle for transport to get attention in stead of for transport (...)
(and they become foolish once you totally ignore those).

gouden Loekie Somebody watching TV called me: this commercial that I appeared in -over a decade ago- was #12 in the 25 most talked commercials in national history. It already was 2nd in the awards for best commercials (it almost won a "Gouden Loekie Award").

Gruss 2
YouTube now has this, this and this movie of parts of the 2009 show of Cirque Gruss in France that has the Troupe de Wuqiao in it. It exposes that the ultimate wheel riders don't really jump that high as the obstacles. And this picture shows that the rider does not really jump over the 7 people, but simply behind them. Nevertheless the act still contains insane skills that deserve respect. Today they are in Saint Tropes.

Pampanga
Besides being team-captain of the Taiwanese Unicycle Team, Steve Dressler brought in 1998 the first Philipino unicyclist to UNICON. Now a decade later there seems to be an alive unicycle community.

Smile for Google - part 1
unicycle on Google Street View On my way to a unicycle-workshop I ended at a wrong railwaystation. So I grabbed my cracked GPS enabled iPhone G3's Google Maps application, and used it as navigator to travel by unicycle to my destination as an alternative. At one point I looked up from the screen (left)... and encountered a Street View car at the crossing! So I drove a little bit up to ensure I would be captured (....if the camera's were running, that is).

This is where it happened, and where I hopefully will appear soon. Unfortunely not the best place to be spotted as unicyclist: the hospital.

I was hoping I might be the 1st unicyclist on Street View... but somebody in Australia New Zealand probably is did a doubtful claim.

Here is a picture of the Spanish camera-car fleet that's now in Holland, which shot each other elsewhere in The Netherlands.

Rachel Weisz can be added to the list of celebrity unicyclists. But it remains unclear for how much she mastered it.

gruss
Today I was in France and visited Cirque Arlette Gruss. Reading the president of the republic condoleances of when Arlette Gruss died... probably the national circus of France.
Anyway the Wuqiao Troupe is there!
They now jump from ultimate to ultimate OVER 7(!) people (I counted that myself with no doubt).
And they ride an ultimate on stilts!
