The Unicycle Blog
Recently there was IUF rulebook proposal about banning personal audio during competition in general. Just ago I saw
this pledge
for a traffic safe personal audio system. Sounds great for long distance unicyclists.

In unicycling I came across many people. One man who I respect enormous for teaching people positive things is Allan Tepper. When I complained that I missed him at UNICON I was told
he's about to retire
. And now
even the newspapers start to write about that
.
Mr Tepper; if you read this; I only met you 3 times, but thank you so much for all you did for a lot of people. I'm sure your positive approach will be passed on by those you've teached. Your contributions will certainly be remembered! Wishing you the best!

OK, to some is riding on one wheel -in stead of two- a challange. And some may find this amazing. But what about doing
bicycle races without forearms
?

And I could summarise it without debate into 3 sentences: Smartphones make people stupid. And a
iPad
is just a iPhone for vision impaired.

Many years ago, not too long after the breakdown of the Berlin wall, a engineer of the trabant factory started to show up in the Tour the France, in a very obvious costume. After I found out his name, Dieter Senft, I had some correspondence with him. Written letters, as there hardly wasn't any internet. Today the internet spreads news rapidly. For example his newest creation:
the biggest working bicycle in the world
. Congratulations, impressive big job! :)

A long while ago I tried to motivate Schwalbe to make me a custom tire. Without success, it seemed. Until I just saw their new products, including
3 new spike tires
.

This TEDx talk
explains exactly why unicyclist.org and unicycle.tv started before youtube.
It's even demonstrated with and example of a unicyclist.
It's true: I was reading about coasting before, but only after I saw it done by others I got convinced and motivated about it. That's what video does.

Last year I was in Zurich, in
Die Blinde Kuh
, experiencing how it's like to be blind.
Being blind
doesn't stop Emma Liu from unicycling
!
Challanges; not problems...!

Last year I did a unicycle performance in advance of the finish of the 3th stage of the Giro d'Italia. Some Belgian guy won.
Today was again the 3th stage of this year edition. That Belgian guy -Wouter Weylandt- had a fatal crash, leaving behind a pregnant girlfriend.
Life is strange.

I'm not the only unicyclist who got punished for unicycling on the pavement while the law instructs to do so.
In New Zealand
the case ended in court
in favor for the one who wasn't breaking any law.
And a simular case in the US got legal-wise also a unique developing. He's now
demanding $3 million
in damages for the violation of his constitutional rights.
UPDATE: here's a
video of an interview with Kyle
on the matter.

There are more and more self-balancing segway alike unicycles out there. Like the
Ryno
, the
Honda U3-X
, and the
Tango
. But I think I would like the one that looks the most like a unicycle: the
new SBU
.

There is a zillion charities people ask sponsoring for per unicycled mile.
Here's one more
. To me firemen are a special kind of people, who put their life in hands of another to safe the life of someone else. So yes, Gary deserves something in return.

Last month I asked Joe Hodges whatever happened with Amanda Gallacher.
Today the Daily Mail provided the answer:
she became a police officer
(of course on unicycle)!
Cogratz! But geeez Amanda;
that's a complicated way to get a helmet and clothing sponsor ;)

Unicyclists have skills, magicians performs tricks. Do not confuse, or you may insult.
I found
Peter Harvey
amazing: you present a unicycle without pedals, put it in a box, and suddenly it has pedals, then take it from the box, and show the pedals are gone again...
it's magic
!

Untill up today I was one of the many unicyclists frustrated with bending and breaking seat base plates. Well, not anymore, as I now got one of those very thick carbon seat bases in no-shit quality.
